Using Taxonomy

What is Taxonomy?
Taxonomy, in this instance, refers to a formulated scheme of keyword generation. For many website administrators adding keywords is simply a matter of typing words that seem relevant to that particular page.
In larger organisations though, with many editors and contributors, the generation of keywords is very open to personal interpretation. Using a taxonomy system minimises this margin of difference. This is achieved by using a pre-defined hierarchical vocabulary system from which keywords are selected, using a point-and-click method. This also prevents potential spelling differences of keywords.
To use taxonomy on your site, you first need to upload a relevant vocabulary file. Once installed, it's just a case of selecting the relevant keywords - these are then added to your pages metadata.
Add a Taxonomy File:
The taxonomy feature in Pepperio allows you to upload any valid taxonomy XML file.
1. Browse for and select your taxonomy file in 'Upload a vocabulary' and click 'Upload'.
2. Select the vocabulary you have just uploaded in the top drop down list.
3. Move an appropriate term relevant to this page by using the left and right arrows.
4. Click OK to save your changes.
Note: You may also delete uploaded XML vocabulary files using the 'Delete a vocabulary' tool at the bottom of this page.
